Hi,
I discovered I had the Skingle family in the tree - in the Roxwell area. I am sure it is not a fault of the Skingles, but the data is good in parts, and absolutley lacking in other areas.
Do your Skingle link to Roxwell (Chelmsford area) ??
I took some detailed notes about births and marriages today, at the ERO. Look forward to a reply.
Best

Hi:

Jeremiah Skingley (B.1702) and Ann Finch were my 5 x great grandparents.  He was a Yeoman and married 3 times.  I have the family tree up to 2006.  His off springs went on to become quite successful in and around Coggeshall and Colchester in Essex. They were either Wheelrights of Brewers.  One Henry Skingley owned a number of breweries and about 25 Ale-Houses.  The family home was Wakes Hall, which is now owned by SCOPE.

If I can  help further, let me know

Hello Sovereign,
Excellent, do you have anything to add to the Essex & London Pubs site, by any chance? See http://londonpublichouse.com/

Hi Kevan:

At this time I do not have any details or names of the Inns accept for the Rose and Crown in Halstead which is still in existence.  One Mary Skingley married Frederick Allen who was a brewer in Finchingfield, they first had "The Village Beer Inn" and then "The Prince of Wales Inn".  They had three children, none of them married and helped in the Inn. Frederick died about 1869 and Mary and the children carried on running the business until about 1899 when they closed the business.  The Prince of Wales Inn was quite large and is now called "The Brick House" which is a private dwelling.

Hope this is of interest.  If you have any info to share I would appreciate hearing from you.
