Going blind looking for this one, the 1841 Runcorn is very poor in places and some pages impossible to read unfortunately, but will carry on looking tomorrow for you.

Thanks for the census look up offer Su.  I have double checked my input data for the above census request, and I made a mistake with the ages of James and Eleanor Howarth.  They would have been around 25 to 30, not 35 as I previously stated.
The family moved from Runcorn to Liverpool around 1850, so I have later census data to check the correct ages.   I hope this has not affected your search.

so that's why I couldn't find them on the 1841 Runcorn then!  Had a horrible thought they were on one of the illegible pages.  Sorry I haven't got Liverpool census yet.
But hope someone else can help you.

Thanks for your efforts Su.  I have already got a copy of the the Liverpool Census Return of 1851 (ref HO107/2177/462)  James and Eleanor (Ellen) Howarth lived in Hornby St, and beside the three children I originally listed, they had three younger children, all born in Runcorn in the 1840s.  The youngest, Agnes, was born in 1850, but by the 1851 Census the family had moved to Liverpool.   Unfortunately it looks as if the family may be lost somewhere in the illegible pages, of the 1841 Runcorn census.
