Birth Lookup in 1807 please

Hi,

The 1861 census details have told me that my Gt Gt Grandfather John Carr (54 and a Wood Keeper), who married, lived, worked, brought up a family at Fodderty in Ross and Cromarty, was born at Glasserton in Galloway and Dumfries about 1807.

I have tried to locate his birth in the IGI and in the Parish Records section of Scotlands People, but can't find him at all.

Can anyone help me find his birth, or advise me where I can next look.
