Sorry this reply is so late, but I have been away for a long time. Hope you can still help me.

But I cant seem to attach the photo.

The one with 3 clasps has an ornage centre band then a thin navy band on either side then red edges. the clasps read Cape colony, Paarderberg and Driefrontein. The medal has Queen Victorias face on it.

The other with 2 clasps is a tricolour of green white and orange. The 2 clasps read south africa 1900 and south africa 1901. King Edwards face is on the front

they are the queens south africa medal and the kings south africa medal ( known generally as the QA and KSA)

the medal rolls for the medals are available, but i'm afraid i don't have them

Thanks again. But I was worried about the bars as I am sure that I read somewhere that the bars are the wrong years on the wrong medal, something to do with when Queen Victoria died.

Does anyone know where I could get info on the rolls from please.

Hi Ginge,

The bars with South Africa 1901 and 1902 definately belong with the King's medal.As Harribobs says, the medal rolls are available, they are in WO100 at the National Archives.
