Old geography
« on: Saturday 04 September 04 10:16 BST (UK) »
I am a dealer in antique maps and usually have many  hundreds in stock from about 1650 to 1900 as well as several old gazetteers of the British Isles. The gazetteers contain all sorts of information about places - populations, churches, nearest town, industries, acreage and so on. For Rootschat members only I am prepared FREE OF CHARGE to attempt to locate hard-to-find villages and places.
I would suggest that first you try the wonderful Genuki.UK site but if you are then unsuccessful in finding the information you want I will try to help, in my own time.
You will also find lots of data on my web site:
www.southernprints.co.uk
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.
