Not sure if there is a connection, but Edwin Arthur Damer, (born 1886 Poole, mother Sarah nee Roberts) was a stonemason in London 1911 census. He was my father's uncle (mother's bother) and had some connection to Damer Brothers Stone Masons, Culvert Place, Battersea. My father worked there as a stonemason. I have tried and failed to get anymore information about Damer brothers. Does anyone know when it was set up etc? Thanks. Gill

Eli was born at Kingston in Dorset and worked in the Purbeck quarries.  He eventually moved to London and"owned?" a stonemasons business with his brother(s) called "Damer Bros”(appearing in the London Directory 1930 - 20yrs after his death - as being in Culver Place, Battersea)
In “The Metamorphosis of Battersea 1800-1914”  https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/2815.pdf (accessed 5 Jun 2019) E.Damer appears on the “Builders Master List” as having a stonemasonry business in Battersea for three years between 1899-1901, possibly in partnership with T.Payne. The construction of railways in the Victorian period saw the population of Battersea increased from 6,617 in 1841 to 168,907 in 1901, by which time it was a Metropolitan Borough.  So it’s no wonder Eli, as a stonemason, went to live and work in London. He was my great-grandfather.
