Hi Prue

The recognizance bit was a bit more wordy but I was running out of time and I can't write very well at the moment as I have a broken finger in a splint for 6 weeks.

The other reference that was relevant:

C/LSS addit 1/5

Draft minutes matching those posted with addition of

'Mary Nuthall   exp. £
                                 5.15.2   '

This looks like expenses/compensation but I don't know who paid it.

All the other bits I looked at give summaries and background to who was who at the court over this period and JPs being sworn in and lists of clergy etc. Also a load of irrelevant stuff to this case.

Jane, that's wonderful!!
Yes, I have photocopies of the original documents I mentioned to you, they're in beautiful condition and very clear.  They look like they're on parchment - is that right?
What I didn't have, as you know, is the minute from the Quarter Sessions book.  That's the missing bit, and has exactly the info I wanted to know.
I can't thank you enough.  This really is great  :D

Hi Prue

Yes they are parchment. I could have kicked myself for forgetting my camera but if you want me to take some photos I can over the next few weeks sometime. Its a shame they can't photocopy the book but I know they can't.

Do you know Marys parents and grandparents as one of the JPs was called Holmes.

;D  Would be ironic if one of her rellies was a JP!

Her father was John HOLMES and his father Samuel HOLMES.

If you are at the archives again sometime I would love photos of the docs, but please don't go there specially.  It would just be nice to have.

Thank you again

Hi Prue

Some exciting news for you. I have photos of the Quarter sessions minute book for you. The writing is beautiful and you are lucky as the book is in really good condition.  :)

Please PM your email address.
