he was born in phillack cornwall,on the 7th may 1891,his mother was put into a workhouse in 1901,she didnt marry the father, he was not with her.
i cannot find him on the 1901 census anywhere, but was told by a relly, that he was brought up in ireland.
i dont know where, neither does the relly, how can i find him?
his name is ernest sampson, he would of been nine or ten in 1901
i know he fought in ww1 with the royal artillary, and was held p.o.w

Hi,

The 1901 census in Ireland is not indexed so without an address or small townland, you're not going to get anything.
What I would suggest is to try and find out why he was sent to Ireland. Unlikely to be an adoption as it seems to have been one way traffic out of Ireland at the time so most likely a relative. If you don't have the father's details, check the mother's history back.

Regards

Kate

thankyou ever so much for your help, there are a couple of rellies on his mothers side, that i also cant find on the 1901,so maybe it will be worth consentrating more on them,to see if ernest is with them.
