Hi all,

The following link could prove useful to people without easy access to records:

http://irelandgenealogyprojects.rootsweb.com/Old/lookups.html

I have contacted a couple of people on this list, with prompt feedback (even if negative results in my case!)

Cheers,
Mags

Darcy, 44.7 degrees - wow!  It's been in the mid-thirties here for almost two weeks - we are having an awful heatwave - but haven't got as hot as that!  Oh, for a cool change!

Mags, thanks for that link.  I'll see if I can find someone on that list to ask my question.  May also post on the Dublin board re gggrandmother Huband Smith.

Thanks, both,

MarieC

Just to say that I am looking for Annie in 1851. I'll post the results on your NZ thread.

I am somewhat daunted now.  :o I posted on the general  Ireland board "Help with my Irish ancestors, " this morning and then I read this thread. Very frustrating. I have a bit of information on a couple of my many Irish ancestors, with Timothy McCluskey being born in Curry, Sligo around 1827 and Mary Davey in Doocastle, Mayo around 1827 (around the time of the "Night of the Big Wind"), and her father William Francis born in 1800 in Sligo. I was hoping to crack that next generation, as I have been at this for over 10 years (on and off) and haven't cracked 1800 yet. You would think with the number of people with Irish blood dispersed around the world, there would be easier and more access. Ah... I will just keep plugging away. I will check out some of the links posted on this thread and if anyone has any tips, I am happy to hear them.

Thanks all.
