« on: Thursday 15 December 05 21:17 GMT (UK) »
I picked this up on another topic earlier today ..

Cambs 1841 index is available as a freeb on http://www.cfhs.org.uk/Search.html

so I went there & done a query on the 'Partridge' name & am interested to find out more of
PARTRIDGE Samuel age 30 Thorney HO107/78/11 6A

as my gt-grandfather John P is found in Thorney on 1851 census - I wondered if there was a link here ???

thanks John

Hi John,

This Samuel appears to be living with five other Ag Labs with the surnames of Pettitt, Billings, Morris, Fields and Yardy.Do these mean anything to you? Household number 1 has the Baker family living in it.

HO107/78/11 6A  Thorney

Household 2

Samuel Partridge 30 Ag Lab N

Kind Regards,

Frances :)

Hello Frances

Coincidently, on 1851 census  John Partridge was a boarder living at Willow Hall Road, with family headed by Thomas Baker age 54, wife Mary 45, daughters Emma 10, Eliza 9 & son George 6.  Are these the same family ?

My John was born 1823 Sharnbrook Beds,
& I'm wondering if this is uncle Samuel born Bletsoe

as to the other names, Pettitt is another Bletsoe family name, the others are 'Vienna' =  "it means nothing to me"

regards John

Hi John,

Yes it is the same Baker family. Ages given as Thomas 40 (Ag Lab) Mary 35, niether born in county. Children listed are Richard 8 and Emma 1, both born in county.

With the 1841 only giving whether they were born in or out of  the county the fact that Samuel was born outside is all we know. As Thomas Petitt aged 20 was also out of county, you may have a connection there?

Kind Regards,

Frances :)
