Dear Andy,
A picture would be absolutely wonderful.

My interest in him is because I have managed to get his Rrifle Brigade dress uniform circa 1913 when he was a Lt.. ( Still awaiting it's arrival in the post )

I am also interested because my G.G. granfather was a sergeant in the 2nd Battalion R.B. and served in it from 1820 to 1844.

Thank you for all of your efforts, they are much appreciated.

Brian,
Glad that all the information was of use and that the years of studying this Regiment has it's uses fromtime to time.
2nd Battalion, good unit, very famous for the Crimea, Boer War and one of my favourite Battlions in the Regiment with many well known officers serving in it, Johnnie Gough, Thesiger to name a few.
Have to go to work now but will see if I can locate Kewley's picture for you over the weekend.

Hi Annie,

You bet.

Andy is worth his weight in gold. He has opened up this officers history so much so that I think I now know him better than my father!

Ain't Rootschat wonderful.

Hi Brian,
Thank you for posting the picture of Kewleys dress uniform, it looks as though it is in great condition.
Have been away for the weekend so have not had a chance to look for his picture but it's there somewhere. At last count I had some 290 books concerning The Rifle Brigade, but I will find it for you.

Thank you both for the compliments :-[  although I am not sure that I deserve them. The Rifle Brigade has been somewhat of a passion of mine for some years now so I do have some very rare material concerning the Regiment.
Annie, I will have to show or describe to you one day of the project I am working on with regard to the Rifle Brigade and WW1, although I fear it will take a few more years yet to complete to my satisfaction. If it does work out as I envisage it will enable you to go through the database and once you have found the person, such as your relative, click on his name and it will lead into a dossier on him containing Medal Rolls, Silver War Badge Rolls, Battalions served in, if wounded but returned to action, any mention in the War Diaries and so the list goes on.
The problem is that this database is becomming so large now that it sometimes becomes unmanageable with continually updating it as you find out more, sigh :(. Hopefully it will all pan out although I will be the first to admit that it is an ambitious project.

Wow Andy!

That really is an undertaking ....... how wonderful that will be for everybody when it's done!! I complain (I'm kidding!!) about all the work on my Honour Roll and I'm only dealing with 50 men and 18 officers .........  :P You're talking thousands ....  that resource will be invaluable - to everybody! - I'm in awe !! but Thank you in advance for all your hard work! how great that will be!

Annie :)

Annie,
I have the feeling this will be a long long project, hopefully not too many years, it's just getting it all to gel together. That is why I have not said anything until now in case I had bitten off more than I could chew.
