Hello
My gt grandfather was Michael McDonnell/McDonald born in Mallow in 1859   I was told Michael  had an aunt who married a Smyth and a stepsister named Catherine.  His father was Patrick McDonald born Lismore, Waterford in 1837.  His stepmother was Margret Mathias, who was married in Honeyborough, Pembrokeshire, Wales in 1861.  They lived in Brooklyn, New York and Pennsylvania.  Catherine and Michael returned to Ireland.  Michael married, settled and died in Wales.   I have found a baptism for Michael in Doneraile in 1859, his mother being Deborah LOUIS,after whom Deborah McDonnell, my grandmother, was named.  She was born in 1889.

Hi there!
I think I may be a relative of your husbands! My mother's dad is Ronald McDonnell, his dad was Roland and then his dad John McDonnell born near Mallow, Cork.

Nothing seems to be registered for them except for the possible exception of a birth for William in 1909 born Oct Dec which would make him still one year old in 1911 when the census was taken in April.
Cross checking with the 1911 census there are 3 Williams one an infant one age 7 and your William age 1 if i have the right census return.

Getting the birth cert would give you Margarets maiden name which may help further your search.

Edit
is this Daniel's birth

Margaret's maiden name may have been Burns.

Hello,
My husbands family come from Mallow,Cork
John McDonnell DOB 1869 son of Jack/John McDonnell.
.......

I too have McDonnells from Mallow but have not tried to investigate further (yet!)

Gen -2       Francis McDonnell – would have been born 1820-30. His son:-

Gen -1      James McDonnell married Anne Shanahan ‘Cork’ 1856. Described as “deceased, solicitor's clerk” on his daughter Annie's marriage cert. in 1881. Other children of that marriage, all born 1860s, were Isabella (died as infant), James (b.1866 - went to NYC, was living in Brooklyn in 1910), John Henry (b.1868), Joseph (b.1869) and “Polly” (no infor on her, possibly a niece?). His daughter :-

Gen 0      Annie McDonnell (1859 – 1904) Married Peter Kelly 1881
I would be interested if anyone had any additional info….

Hi,

I know the McDonnell I am looking for is slightly before the date range for this chat but I have failed for years to find any information other then the one marriage of my 4x Great Grandparents.

Rachael McDonnell married Joel Watson on 18th October 1811 in the parish of Mallow, County Cork.

Joel was a soldier in the 20th Regiment of Infantry.

I did find one entry as above but no further information.

Wondering if anyone could help with this.
