Yorkshire to Canada and back
« on: Friday 10 September 04 08:00 BST (UK) »
Can anyone point me in the right direction here? My Grandmother Beatrice Olivia Wilson was born in 1881 in Leeds. Her parents John Albert and Mary Louisa Wilson subsequently emigrated to Canada. I have no evidence that they took their daughter with them. They had a son George F who was born in Canada (acc. to 1901 British Census) in 1883. Their next child, William B was born in Leeds, Yorks in 1885.
They were not in Canada for a census. How can I find records of their arrival and departure and the birth of George F?

Thanks

I have been looking at the 1901 canadian census and have found the sister and brother in law of Mary Louisa Wilson (see initial post) It now seems likely that the two sisters and their husbands emigrated to Canada together.
While J A  and ML Wilson returned to England, her sister Georgiana and her brother-in-law Alfred Elvidge stayed on and were living in Longueuil, Quebec in 1901.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for quebec/canadian immigration records?

Thanks,

PeterB

Hi Peter,
Here are a couple of links for Canadian immigration and a site for Quebec genealogy.  Hope you find something here that will help in your search.
