I think I've finally found my Beaumont family in the 1881 census!  Everything fits but the wife's initial.  It's "M" but her name was Amelia.  She might have been called Milly, though, as her granddaughter was called.

The birthplaces, ages and occupations are right.  When I looked at another census record, the "Beaumont" looked like "Bluemont", so I think this could be them, plus I couldn't track this "Bluemont/d" family backwards or forwards from 1881.

I found it when I read a message in which a Rootschatter mentioned that you could search the 1881 census on occupation, which I hadn't realized.  I don't remember who it was, but thank you!

In the 1861 census, the head of the family, William F. Beaumont, was listed, then the others got their first initials.  The wife, Amelia, was listed as A. B., although she didn't have a middle name.

I'm going to attach an image of just the names.  Do you all agree that this is a possibility for my Beaumont family?

Regards,
Josephine

In family history absolutely anything is possible!!

My best find of the year was a distant cousin with whom I have been in almost daily contact since.   We are working together on the mutually shared line and have made considerable progress with the family tree - not much further northwards but east and west have grown tremendously!

Definitely receiving the photograph on the left from a cousin umpteen times removed and several thousand miles away.  We think it was taken around the time of his second marriage at the age of 74.

Second best -  finding a Will on the National Archive website (1732) which I could download.

My best find was discovering my 2nd cousin in Virginia USA and being invited to his daughter's wedding in September. We had a wonderful time and met many extended family members who wanted to know all about their English roots.

Hopefully some of my new found relatives will travel over the pond so that I can show them where their ancestors lived in Lancashire. What a culture shock for them.

Merry Christmas to all and hoping to discover even more family next years.

Best find this year was tracing the english ancestry of a my daughter in law's mother.  She was over on holiday for the birth of the first grandson in Sept so in the 8 weeks here I ploughed the internet and particularly rootschatters for help and came up trumps.

Many thanks everyone.

My 3 best finds for 2005 are as follows,

1 - Finally getting a death cert for the elusive John Burrow - still looking for his date/place of birth.

2 - Finding John's widow and kids on the 1841 census (John died in 1839).

And lastly, my mother getting her orginal birth certificate,  (she was adopted) and the birth registration for her natural mother. I've been able to take her grandfathers line back to the 1700s in Cornwall - a another West country county.

Now I have ancestors from Cornwall, Devonshire and Somerset.  :D

I LOVE the West Country!!!   ;D
