Where is Crookedstane? SOLVED
« on: Monday 26 December 05 22:24 GMT (UK) »
I have been told that my great grandmother Jane Wilson born 1887 was born Crookedstone also her daughter Katherine  who was born early 1900's .  I cannot find her marriage details to Adam Fordyce or any birth details.  Where was Crookedstane?

Hi Isobel

Crookston in Lanarkshire looks good to me. Have a look at Google's mapping site where it shows: http://maps.google.co.uk  A number of listings for Crookston in Glasgow G52.

I think also I have found the marriage of Jane Wilson and Adam Fordyce. Nothing under Jane but there is an entry for Jean (interchangeable quite often with Jane) Wilson and Adam Fordyce in 1911 in Lanarkshire.

Regards.
Monica

It is not Crookston in Glasgow.  It is Crookedstane  the family all came from the Elvanfoot, Crawford area Lanark.  I think this was a village or possibly a farm.

The marriage that has been found can you tell where they were married and Adam's parents names.

The skill and helpfulness of RootsChat members never ceases to impress :D

At 22:24:28 on Boxing Day, Isobel asked where is Crookedstane (no area given) and said she couldn't find a certain marriage.

By 00:48:58, not only had Crookedstane been found - with a map, and extensive history - but also the marriage had been located ready for download from ScotlandsPeople.

Congratulations to MarMnkly, ricky1, MonicaLesl, and Douglas P  ::)
