Jenny:
You didn't give any dates for your husband's ancestors but  I thought this might be helpful.  http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegal/gweedoreproject.htm

Lots of good info there.

Also,  http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegal/

Good luck,

Hello Pat,

I have just had a browse and found my Boyle family there as well in Doe Castle,Dunfanaghy.

Here is the only date I have for my COYLE family:
Anna COYLE D.O.B 1880 Derrynamansher,Annagry,Donegal .Daughter of Patrick COYLE & Roise MCCAFFERTY.
She married in Belfast,Co Down to Sean McMullan 1910.
Thanks again
Best wishes

Jenny:
I am glad I was able to help. Here is another great site.
http://www.dun-na-ngall.com/archives.html
Annagry and Derrynamansher are in Templecrone Parish. Dunfanaghy is in Clondahory Parish.

Here is a link to some McCafferty births in that area. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegal/dungloebthmc.htm

Good luck,

Pat

Hello Pat,
Thanks for the useful additional websites , I have copied out the 11 McCafferty people and some of them (6) say they are from Derrynamansher which is the right place for my Roise McCafferty.
We thought her parents were ? McCafferty & Maire Harley. So although its the right area there are no parents names McCafferty & Harley, but I'm hoping some of the McCafferty's you found might be siblings/Aunts Uncles to Roise McCafferty.
Do you know if Leabrannagh, Plughoge and Annagry are near Derrynamansher?
Have had no luck with any info on Anna Coyle as yet on any websites although I did find a possible Rose Coyle with 9 children on 1901 census in Derrynamansher on yesterdays Donegal link you sent but she was shown as an unmarried mother of 6 on the 1901 census then a widow with 9 children on the 1911 living with her unmarried son John. But no sign of a daughter Anna Coyle.
Anna's Mother was Roise McCafferty married to Patrick Coyle about 1880's so Patrick could be deceased by then and Roise widowed and transcribed as Rose.
What do you think?
Best wishes
Jenny

Jenny:
You are right, Roise could very well be transcribed as Rose and she may have been widowed by 1901.
I took a look at the Annagry 1901 census and found some Harleys there so you might want to make another list, lol. Sometimes when you put it all on a large sheet of paper things jump out at you. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegal/1901annagary.htm

I did find two births to a  Patrick Coyle and Rose Harley in Derrymansher.
Coyle
 Bridget
 09/10/78
 Patrick Coyle
 Rose Harley
 Derrynamansher

Coyle
 Grace
 13/06/69
 Patrick Coyle
 Rose Harley
 Derrynamansher

Your Anna was born later, I believe, right?

Here is map of Templecrone Parish North. Look at the island and you will see Plughoge and Leabrannagh.

Hello Jenny
Came across your request recently, the following may be of help:
Paddy Coyle was married to Rose Harley and not Rose or Roise McCafferty. They had the following
children that we are aware of: John (not married  & lived in Derrynamansher), Biddy (married in States), Hughdie (married with family in Derrynamansher), Mary (married in Derrynamansher but no family), Anna or Nancy as per census (married Seán McMullan - her grandchildren live in Dublin), Gracie (married in Derrynamansher) and Jack went to Scotland, we think but lost contact with relations at home).  Gracie and Hughdie have family members still living in Derrynamansher and surrounding areas.  Paddy Coyle was raised in Derrynamansher but his father came from Gweedore and he may have married a Rose McCafferty but we are not sure.   Is your husband a descendant of Jack Coyle's?
Best wishes, Maire

Hello Maire,
Are you Maire O'Neil by chance?
My husband is the Great grandson of  Sean McMullan & Anna Coyle, through their daughter Roise MacMullen (the Dublin lot!)
Maire MacMahon now O'Neil told me some of the families history and thats where I got Patrick Coyle & Roise McCafferty from, but it looks as if you're right maybe McCafferty was from the generation before Rose Harley, maybe Rose's mum was Roise McCafferty. ???
Thanks anyway for the info I will look at what I've got and see what help I need.
How are you related please.
Best wishes
Jenny McDonnell
