Hi,
Gavins Quarry is on the B9140 just a few hundred yards west of the crossroads with the B9140 known as the Collyland's Crossroad.  A few hundred yards farther on,  on the opposite side of the road is Glen Ochil Prison.  I passed the place on a trip home a few weeks ago.  Although I always knew it as Gavin's Quarry, I can't ever remember it as a working quarry or even resembling one.
The place used to contain a few huts, pigeon lofts etc.  Try the Alloa Advertiser, the local paper for any death notices or report of the death.
Regards,
Jim
