There is a picture of Bray's first fire engine in Tom book.
   Wonder if there is a record of the first crew?

   Then I've found a picture of Bray High Street circa 1895 in a supplement of the Advertizer. (Last Year.)  The photo looks towards the church, with The Ringers plainly on the right.
 There is a row of old beamed cottages on the left, with a chap in a cap leaning on the door lintel, how I would love to be there behind that camera, to see if he is family.....

   The picture on Frith site is the same one in the paper
            and site is 1911 - paper says 1895. ?

       He must have stood outside that house for 16 yrs.

That fire engine still exists and has recently been given an honourable retirement place in a museum - but I can't remember exactly where

     Isn't there an office/shop somewhere in town for historical things of the area.
             I might be able to get "home" sometime in March.
                            But I don't suppose it's open weekends.

My parents met in the 'Ringers' my mother lived in the Terrace, just along the road.

Used to be a Freddie Blackall bookmaker in Maidenhead - wonder if he was related ?
