I could find only one Ellen Hudson in 1901 in Warwickshire but she's 58 - not sure witnesses are usually that age?? Will see if I can find Alfred's elder brother William in 1901 to check his wife's name.

The Whicks'/Wheekes I supposed could be Rosetta's family. But I have no evidence for the moment...

The census RG13 was 1901, that's why.
(RG12 being 1891 and RG11 1881)
FreeBMD has
Births March quarter 1900
Dudley Registration district

I have modified the 1881 census (RG11) to highlight your Joseph - his father was also Joseph! Hope this makes it easier!

Have a good night!

A  ;)

p.s. Tanja I was hoping that the cert would show Alfred had married from home - it woudln't normally show his father's address as you say.

 8)  8)
Marriages December 1867
Birmingham Registration district
Herbert Hudson to either Eliza Capewell or ... Rosetta Weekees
Volume 6d page 263

I can see avery tempting family in 1871 but can't manage to trace them back to check whether they have a daughter Rosetta:
RG10/3138 96 18
Aston Deritend, 7 Upper Trinity Street

William Weekes, head, 56, Wire Drawer Journeyman, b. Middlesex London
Rosetta, wife, 54, b. do. *
Frederick, son, unm, 22, Lab at umbrella works, b. Birmingham
Mary, dau, 10, scholar, b. do.
Alfred, son, 5, scholar, b. do.

I'd like this Frederick to be the Fred lodging with the family in 1901 and being actually the brother in law.

Tanja  :D

* by 1881, she says born Birmingham ca. 1824. Seems she dies in December 88 age 67

Who's getting an extra hug?
Seems they can't make up their minds as to where they were born but you'll have to agree they just seem to fit

1861
RG9/2171 15 24
Aston, Warwickshire
Court n°1 (something) Henry St

William G Weekees, head, 41, Wire twister, b. London Bersmey (should this read Bermondsey?)
Rose, wife, 40, b. London Spielfields (=Spitalfields?)
William G, son, unm, 28, Wire twister, b. London St Lukes
Henry, son, 12, Wire twister, b. Warwickshire Birmingham
Frederick, son, 11, scholar, b. London St Lukes
Rose, dau, 9, scholar, b. Birmingham
John, son, 5, scholar, b. do.
Sophia, dau, 12ms, b. do.

I'm sorry to confuse you with one more Rosetta  :P - and I also agree son William G seems a bit old for these parents  :-\ Definitely looks like 28 though.
