I am looking for infomation off the 1841 census for Edmund Davis born 1827 at Iron Acton Gloucestershire, on the 1851 census he lived in Ledbury and I know that later on he worked as lock keeper on the Hereford and Gloucester canal.
Many thanks
Tosca

Hello Tosca  :)

HO107/425  folio 26   page 7
Cottage Ledbury

John Davis   40  Ag. Lab   Y   (Y = Yes born in county)
Edmund Davis  12   Y
Sidney Davis   8   Y

I like the order of enumeration, obviously the men are more important than the women  ::)

My husband's maternal ancestors were Lock Keepers on the Hereford and Gloucester Canal, at Over, from  late 1830's to 1880's.

 Hi Susan
Thank you again for this information. Its very interesting to to know that your husbands ancestors worked on the canal. My Ancestor we know was working on the canal at Ledbury in 1876, we found this information in a book that we bought on the history of the Hereford and Gloucester canal written by David Bick which we found at their centre at Gloucester.
I don't know if you saw my other request for info on the Knight family at East Dean (different family to the one you helped me with, Knight married Knight ) and could be of assistance again.
Many thanks
Tosca.
