christchurch NZ vs Christ Church, Belfast?
« on: Tuesday 10 January 06 23:15 GMT (UK) »
I have a puzzle/brick wall,
my ancestors Robert THOMPSON and Annie ARCHER claimed to have married dec 20 or dec 27 1877 in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand, however there is absolutely no record of this. He was from Belfast, County Antrim.

I noticed there is a Christ Church in Belfast.

Coming from Left field - can anyone think of a reason someone may have stated they married in NZ rather than Ireland? All the kids were born in Dunedin, NZ.

If so, is there a marriage register of this church somewhere so to check the dates there?
cheers
