Which Huntinton, the one near Kington or the one near Hereford ?

If it is the one near Kington you will get lots of info on Thomas from Kington History Society c/o the Library Mill Street Kington HR5 3BH
They have a huge database for the whole area.

Could you please let me know what the Hereford Poll 1818 is - I have not come across it before?   I am looking for the Wanklyn's (various spellings) of Herefordshire.

Thanks

Poll books are the lista of people eligible to vote in an election, adn may not be resident in the area, but merely the freeholder, that is  own land or a house in the area. They were produced from about 1600 onwards.

In Herefordshire there was an election in 1818 and Poll books were produced, some of these are marked with who has voted - and who they voted for !!  :o - Democratic, hey ?   ;)

They are higly sought after and collectors pay upwards of £150 for them.
In one or two areas of the country socieites had published copies of them.
It may be Herefordshire Family History Society have done that.
Worth asking if you think your ancestors might have been eligible to vote.

There are Havards in Old Radnor, and also a Thomas Havard and a William Havard who married in Huntington in 1830 and 1804 respectively.

Are these the ones you are looking for ?
