Looking for info on the Stewarts who lived at Drem mid 1800`s (came from Leadhills). They were the schoolmasters family, plenty of them who made their way into the Lothians and Edinburgh when they grew up. James Stewart (the schoolmaster) and his wife Annie Gordon ended their days in Ormiston where the earl of Hopetoun gave them a free house.
Particular interest in their daughter Agnes who died in Ormiston and her children John Muir (1849), James (1851)and Janet (1855). Also Charles the son of James and Annie who I have never been able to trace.
Children of James and Annie were in this order from 1822. Agnes, Janet (1825), Jane (1829), Charles (1831), Elisabeth (1835), Isobel (1840), Alice (1843)
STEWARTs from Leadhills, Sanquhar, Wanlockhead 1700 - 1980
STEWARTs from Drem, East Lothian 1820 +
STEWARTs from Edinburgh, Banefield and Murdoch Terrace general Fountainbridge area.
DUNCANs from Fife and Morayshire (Hopeman area).
HENDRYs from Alloa.
NAIRNs who were highland crofters.
