1861 Census of Leeds - BROADBENT
« on: Friday 17 September 04 17:57 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I would be most grateful if someone could have a look in the 1861 census for MARY ANN BROADBENT.   Her father was JOHN and a witness at her marriage was Sarah Elizabeth - mother or sister?   Mary Ann was born in Leeds about 1845.   When she married in 1867 her father was a Lodging House Keeper in Scarborough, so they could have already left Leeds in 1861.   Many thanks.

Jill.  Do you have the Scarborough address? I'm in Scarborough so can help with this end if you have an address.

Jill.  There are no Broadbents at 9 Albion Road in the 1861 or 1871 census.  I checked at the library today.  I have added a photo of 9 Albion Road, taken today.  Sorry I couldn't find anything else.

Ticker

That's really great!   Thank you so much!   It is also very helpful because it helps to confirm a sneaking suspicion.   I have a family on the 1851 census in Leeds which I think is them but unfortunately no occupation for John.   I then have them on the 1881 census and he is an unemployed school teacher - again in Leeds.   I don't think they were in Scarborough for long.   All I have to do now is prove that they are the right family!!   You have certainly narrowed the time span down for me.   Thanks again!
