Upon researching my ANDERSON ancestors from Deskford, Banffshire, I have come across an entry in the 1841 census I don't understand...

Margaret ANDERSON
Occupation: Ind

I feel this means,......Independent...
Of own means,    I would love the experts to explain this as well, for I feel it could mean anything, as being supported by someone or earning by many means.. ???

I have come across this many times in my research also and from what I have discovered about my relatives, it can often mean they are living on an annuity from an inheritence .
