Mill Yard and Berkeley Terrace are gone now, and I can't help with those, but Hessle Road is a very long road, so what was the number?
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

Berkeley Terrace was off Buckingham Street which in turn was off Holderness Road.

Can't help with Mill Yard, there where several mills in Hull at one time so I suppose it could have been near one of them.

Nick

No idea if Mill Yard is off Mill Street but it is near Hessle Road and it sounds logical.

In 1851 Mill Street was described as being in Holy Trinity, Kingston-upon-Hull, York, England.

The link below gives a map.

My gggg grandfather lived on Mill Street in 1841/51 when it was mainly populated by Irish Imigrants (including him).  Hope this may be of help.

Hey Nick,

Don't know if this will be of any use to you or not, but my g g great grandparents lived at Oil Mill Yard in 1861. I believe that it was situated somewhere near Anlaby Road.

Best wishes,

Thanks for all the help. I've got Scuicoates appearing regularly on various documents, so that makes sense. Many of my ancestors worked in the docks or shipping industries so would have been relatively close to these areas and I am sure Hessle Road stretches for a long way

Hello Nick,

Hessle road is on the west side of Hull. It was the heartland of the fishing idustry

However, Berkerley terrace was down Buckingham Street (next to 49) on the East side of Hull

Mill Yard is not actually named on any of my maps guides etc, however all is not lost, I think its the Mill Yard that is now part of The Mill public house, this is still standing, the Mill houses are now part of the Pub, I remember looking at them prior to their conversion, I think there where a line of three houses, the Mill tower itself is still standing and is of interest as its the original mill of Joseph Rank of the Rank Hovis Macdougal company.

Hope this helps
