Greston,James,age 55,horse braker(sic) b. OUC
*My Alexander Amos,lived,over the{" hill,down the dale,la!la!to grandmother's house we go).Just kidding,but I have a feeling there is a definite relationship between,Amos/Scott.Call it a "gut feeling".

thanks for all your lookups this will definitely keep me occuppied for a while,  :)
think i worked one out which is probably a connection but still figuring it all out
the Elizabeth scott living with Gideon scott 1 and catherine scott 3 think she may be Elizabeth ballantyne married a gideon scott he's not in the census but pretty sure it's them. any way thanks heaps

Rural Scotland: Cousins married 1st Cousins,brother-in-law,married,sister-in-laws,cousins married Uncles,etc.
Some may disagree?.Marriages of CONNIVANCE(i.e.keep property in the family).

Any chance you could look at the following family in the 1841 census for Yarrow?

William Dalgleish (30) - he was a stonemason
Elizabeth Dalgleish (27)
Children - Janet (3) and John (5), Alexander and Jessie

also Williams parents

John Dalgleish (68)
Janet Dalgleish (68)
