Williams and Griffiths
« on: Thursday 15 January 04 18:27 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the families of Sarah Williiams ( born 1857) who married Edmund Griffiths ( Born  1856 ) in 1879. They lived most of their married life in the Plough Inn in Ffrith.  I know their families after they are married but looking for their parents and siblings. I believe Sarah's parents are John and Jane Williams living in Brymbo or Pentre Broughton
but have been unable to confirm this. Edmund's father I believe is John Griffiths but do not know mother's name. Thanks.

Hello Norma,

Do you have a copy of Sarah and Edmunds marriage certificate  ???

If so does this give you any other addresses to check around 1879 and what trades are listed for the Fathers back then.

Regards

Sarah  ;)

As I have now received further info about the Griffiths',I can now be almost certain that Edmund's Parents were John and Sarah Griffiths, who lived at Mount Brymbo according to the 1881 Census.Sarah's maiden name was Butler.I also strongly believe that John Griffiths was a brother to my Great-grandfather Samuel Griffiths. They also had a sister Ann,the three of them were the children of a Richard Griffiths, also from the Overton area.Having said that though about this Richard Griffiths,it is all I know, for surely he must be the most elusive character since Genealogy was invented.I hope that this has helped you in some small way.

I have since posting my first message found that Edmunds mothers name was Harriet Clarke born in Lesswood and her father was Robert Clarke farmer.  Edmunds grandfather was also a John Griffiths and was a farmer in Llanarmon-yn-lal . Edmund appears to have been born on a farm in Ffrwd as his father John was listed as a farmer but is  also listed as a shopkeeper in Ffrwd. Norma
