As I posted last week she doesn't appear in Cambridgeshire in the 1841 index on the Cambs FHS website

Hi Chris,

The 1841 does only gives if a person was born in the county. Do you have anymore information to identify which of the two Eliza's aged 7 is yours? It is probably this one as she is born in Cambridgeshire.

The other Eliza  7 was down as a Pauper in Bassingbourn Workhouse and born  out of county.

I am now really confused as had been told there was an eliza robinson in the cambridge baptism index 1801-1837 daughter of thomas & elizabeth robinson tydd st giles .... where am i going wrong ?

There is an Eliza Robinson born 1833 on the CFHS disc. It is only an index and does not give parents names. You did not mention that their names were Thomas and Elizabeth in your posting, where did you get that information from? Have you researched them from previous censuses, parish records and certificates after they began in   1837?

There are so many Robinson's in every county you will have to double check everything to make sure you are not following the wrong path. It is so easy to do a lot of work and find it was wasted effort.

I myself took my grandfathers birth name for granted and four generations later found that he was base born, so he had his mothers surname, not the name of the man she later married who was not his father.

had found eliza on the cambridgeshire baptisms index for 1801 to 1851.... says father thomas ..mother elizabeth ... also found a sister 1831 lucy   born tydd st giles   


can you suggest best way to find on 1841 census please have found eliza on 1851 census as a niece in holbeach

There is an Eliza Robinson born 1833 on the CFHS disc.

              Thanks for your help. I believe the info you sent re Ho107/85/16 may be the correct one for when Eliza was 7 . what does the 12b 13a relate to on the above census. Also u mentioned an Eliza who was a pauper would you have any census details for her ie HO record as for the other one. Also on Ho107/85 u mantion John 1 Y and John 20Y what was the relationship of the 20 y old.

Are there two of you looking for this Eliza or are you the same person under different names? I am puzzled

The information from the 1841 census on Eliza in the workhouse  is complete that is all that was taken in 1841. H0107/63/6  2B/3A/3B/4A/4B/5A

There are no relationships given on the 1841 census.

The extra numbers are from the CFHS transcription  discs which I used to check and find them on the originals.
