1851/1861/1871 Dover Census - Spicer
« on: Tuesday 21 September 04 07:15 BST (UK) »
I am hoping someone can help me with this. I am trying to track down a family called Spicer.

John Spicer born about 1816
his wife Ann born about 1818
daughter Harriet born 1857

John and Ann married in 1842 so there are probably more children.

The address on Harriets birth certificate in 1857 is Stroud Lane, Dover.

In 1881 Ann was living with a grandchild in Seven Star Street.

I hope one of these addresses is where they are on any the census.

Search for the "Kent Lookup exchange". I'm pretty sure that a Dover 1851 name index is offered on there (it is free!). Pauline.

Bad news I'm afraid for 1861 census.

RG9 546 folio 99 is a description of a registration bit and is said to include Stroud Street but it stops before that at The Baths. Looks like it was destroyed. I think you can ask the question of the archives on their government web page. Same thing happened to me in Wateringbury.

sorry

Kate
