All I know is He married my nan Irene . He was born in 1908 and he was tragically killed in 1954 when he was just 46 yrs old.He was in the local church male choir and  a local artist and did many cartoon strips in a local paper of which he used to sign them as Machno!!  and did paintings for the church there in tregarth.  His father was also called william jones and he died in 1973. They are buried together in the same family grave. I or my Mum don't know who my Grandfathers mother was , she died when he was born or a young baby I think..He was brought up by someone only referred to as Nine??  not sure how you spell that...He was of machno Villa tregarth. My mum never knew of my Grandfathers side of the family as they all moved away from wales when mum was little but then he was killed at Ringway Airport where he worked as a fitter and my Nan had him taken back to Wales as his final resting place.

Thanks Carol

Would I be correct in saying that this Trgarth,is between Bethesda and Bangor? If this is correct, you would do far better submitting your query to the Caernarvonshire forum.

Just to make you feel better. The 'nine' you speak of is actually Nain which is Welsh for grandmother.

If you are still searching, the information you require is given below:

William John Jones, 23 the Mount, Hale Barns, Hale (Machno Villa) was the son of William Jones, 12a Staden Park, Trimmingham (previously of Machno Villa, 32 Tanrhiw Road, Tregarth). His father, who was the brother of my grandmother Susannah Catherine Williams (nee Jones), was known to many of us here as Uncle Will Luton. His father's parents were John William Jones and Jane Jones (Machno Villa). All the above, plus 2 other children of John William and Jane are buried right next to the St Mary's Church, Gelli, building (Reference A 013).

I hope this helps.

Hello there. I'm now back using this forum..... thank you very much for this info!!! Yes, this is my Grandfather William John Jones ! My mother is Gillian his daughter!!! She is very much trying to get into contact with family on her fathers side. And yes, we knew my great Grandfather, who you call Uncle will Luton, had moved to Luton  many years ago. But sadly, my mum and consequently and I  ( and my brothers) never got too meet him.  I see your user name Harrisdavies, are you Mary's son? Be lovely to perhaps have further contact with you. Especially  my mum, who has asked me to try and search for you! Hope to hear from you soon Carol.
