Hi
Very interesting that the Brandauer suicide is listed in the book.  I am currently researching the Brandauer family and will search further.  Thank you.  You may like to know about my Blog about the Living History of our firm - C Brandauer & Co Ltd.  The blog address is:  www.historycbrandauer.blogspot.com

Hi, I do have some information about what actually happened if anyone is interested.  This chap worked with my great, great grandfather and my great grandfather in Birmingham and lived in Maidenhead before being taken to the Isle of Man.

Persons interned at Alexandra Palace, named in Alexandra Palace, a Hidden History, by Janet Harris, with page numbers, as follows:

Rudolph SCHMIDT, 59yrs, of Tottenham - 52
Henry C. KURTZ, baker, of Tottenham - 56
Mr. WEIFFENBACH, of Tottenham - 56
C. SPINDLER, of Tottenham - 56
Ferdinand TUCHMANN - 82
Rudolf SAUTER - 102
George SAUTER - 102
M. KASTNER - 93, 102
TOMITZ, SCHECKER, STRECKER, FICKER, BRANDES, HERZOG - 102
Anton WURST, Lino VESCO, F. LORANT - 98
Charles TURK - 108, 109
Gustave WANDA - 98, 99 (died at the German Hosp, Dalston Dec1915)
Franz ERFURT - 94 (23 June 1867 - 01 Nov 1915), Great Northern Cemetery grave R1069.

There is a memorial to the internees who died in custody at the entrance to the Great Northern Cemetery, Southgate - photo page 94 is not clear enough to see if it shows names, but book says 54 internees are buried there.
Somewhere, there must be a record of who these 54 people were.  Please post if you find out.

Hello,
I would like to discuss some new things and add some new names concerning this topic - should I go on with this one, or open a new one?
Would a new post put this dialogue in a place of public concern, or would it remain lost somewhere in the old posts?

I am also completely new in this forum, so excuse my question.
Tank you.

To very short list of Alexandra Palace detainees add my great-grandfather's brother:born in then Prussia 1867
Richard Constantin Noschke,china packer,of 3 Boston Road,Hatherley Gardens,East Ham,London,around 49 when detained in 1915.
He wrote a diary of his internment for his children which lies at the Imperial War Museum. His wife was English and he was voluntarily repatriated to Germany in 1918,not knowing the war was nearly over. His son was in British Army trenches in France at the time, gaining a medal! 3 members of this family including my grandmother altered their names to sound less German or completely English,my London-born grandmother never admitting that both her parents were German,so far as not being drawn when my brother approached her about obtaining a British ancestry passport!
