BERTHA KNIGHT
« on: Friday 03 February 06 04:59 GMT (UK) »
Hello, after finding BERTHA KNIGHT on the 1901 census i can tell you she isn't married and is working as a servant. It is this job i'm curious about.

Her details:

BERTHA KNIGHT - Born 1876 - Connington, Huntingdonshire

She is working as a servant in BRAMPTON, HUNTINGDONSHIRE

But this is no ordinary well off family or farm. It seems to be a school of some sort. As there about 30-40 people listed most with 'pupil'
There are some strange titles for the jobs of other people there

There are about 3 or 4 other Servants alongside Bertha.

Plus some of the people are from far away places like Trinidad and India.

Would love to know what was going on there.

Any Help or Advise would be most welcome

Thanks

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

I don't know if this helps but the head of the family is a specialist surgeon, as well as one of the pupils...

The place they are in is Brampton Park. I'm guessing this may be connected to Hinchingbrook hospital.

go to  http://www.old-maps.co.uk/  for 1890 map of area.

Search for Brampton Park
