Hi Romilly!

Maybe you can try and get his POW records .... I don't know how hard it is - but maybe this will give you some ideas!

Hi Romilly,

As your uncle was captured by the Japanese forces you may want to have a look at the FEPOW site. This site is dedicated to the Far East Prisioners Of War and has a postings section for inquiries.

Another site that might interest you is the COFEPOW site. This site is for the Children Of Far East Prisioners Of War. This site also has a postings page.

Both sites are of interest to anyone with relatives who were held prisioners of the Japanese during the second world war. Sadly this theatre of war is either over looked or forgotten by many and even though the second world war is taught in senior schools it mainly deals with the war in europe and not in the far east. Anyway better get off me soap box before I really get started on this subject. The two sites are,

Hi
Sorry to but in, I just wanted to thank harribobs for the link to the International Red Cross. I had no idea there is a form on line to fill in for information on POW's.

My father was also in the Far East for 4 years & "helped to build Death Railway"

Like so many others he never spoke of his time as a POW but now I feel I would like to know, although it will probably break my heart.

Thanks Chris & yes I will certainly let you know. It might not be for a while as the form says it can take up to 3 months before a reply.
