Donna,
The reference to James Thorpe / Eliza Buttress was via the Family Search IGI site.
I found a reference to an Eliza Thorpe bn 1849 at Foxton Cambs . Her parents were the aforementioned James / Eliza .( igi batch no C138132)
Ialso found another daughter Lucy bn 1849, but this may be the Holland Thorpe that married Edward Frankland.
From yourself I got the name of Ambrose's wife as Draper..but I cannot find any corroboration either on the Freebmd or Family Search of their marriage.
All the other details I took from the 1861 census..and there the names are all Thorpe.
Where did you find the birth details for Ambrose ?
Ron

got that donna,
Ifound the igi site for ambrose.
it could well be that eliza married james thorpe after both edmund and ambrose were born
the igi records are presumably only parish records  as I cannot find any reference to ambrose on the ancestry bmd files
ambrose seems to have benn married to leviathan in the 1891 census , but his wife was eleizabeth ? in 1901..
