Rochdale area look-up
« on: Friday 24 September 04 17:49 BST (UK) »
Would be most grateful if someone could look up the workhouse records for an Eleanor Marian Thornton from 1897 onwards (she died in 1941) in Wardle also in the Gores directory from same period onward. I have three addresses
which are Birch Hill House Wardle, 10 Elm St Littleborough, and also Minfford Milnrow Road Smithy Bridge Littleborough
I believe she may be my Great Grandmother who went missing from Liverpool around 1897 leaving my grandfather in the cottage homes in Fazakerly. Also mentioned on the death cert is an Ivan Edward Whitehouse who dealt with the burial. I have been researching the Thorntons family history for four years now  but Eleanor is a bit of a mystery, any help would be gratefully received :)

The History of the Workhouse site has much information on Rochdale. It will tell you which records are available and the address where they are kept. Hope this may help. Frances
