« on: Wednesday 08 February 06 15:50 GMT (UK) »

This is an indexed collection of records from Argentina that documents the presence of thousands of British and other English-speaking residents there.

Records include baptisms, marriages, deaths and burials from the Anglican and Scots Presbyterian churches, transcripts from the National Archives in Buenos Aires and London, Argentine census returns and contemporary publications.

Michael John Geraghty, who went to Argentina as a missionary in 1966, wrote an article "Irish Power in Argentina" for the Southern Cross Centenary Special Edition. Click here to read the complete, unpublished, version in which he mentions that the biggest landowners in Argentina were Irish as were the biggest mart operators.
