Please note that this is not a census....but a directory...Only the person who was the direct rentor or owner of the home was listed...and the surnames list was usually those out in the workplace, I believe? Not 100% positive...

...Why Caroline E. wasn't listed until later? Beyond me... What was really frustrating is that sometimes all they had were first initials as in the E. listing above...but I recognized him by profession...

I wanted to see if your families were here in 1911...I was wondering if perhaps the Watchmaker may have been a relative and told them about Winnipeg...so I put him down just in case. I remembered your family profession from other threads.  J.J.

Yes good thinking
I have quite a few watchmakers, but not in this family. Emma Caroline was a Holmes before marriage
They were mstly brushmakers.
Dennis W Smith was a brushmaker in at least one census in UK too.
I am at work right now so will respond when I have some time to take it in properly

Thanks again for all these

Re records for Edwin are reasonably consistent, and also agree with the census
At his marriage in 1907 he was a railway engine stocker.
The totally uncorroborated date I have for his death is however 1974, by which time he could have moved. When I met him, I was tpo young to have any idea about Canada, and don't know where he was living. Bearing in mind that two of his children Florence and Albert lived at least the latter part of their lives in BC, however the death records don't give an Edwin so I think it most likely he stayed in Winnipeg.

Emma is said to have died in 1953 and her mother 1937, I've no information on Dennis.

I find there are three cemeteries (not sure if this was always the case)
Brookside, Transcona and St Vital.

STOP PRESS
An envelope used to send photos to my grandmother is marked barely legibly
FROM
E A Crossed out Miss F Edwards (Florence)
15 St George's Road
St Vital
Winnipeg 8
Manitoba Canada

So I guess Edward and his wife Alice would be likely to be buried in St Vital

Caroline Edwards, Dennis and Emma Smith would,  only from their last known locations, be more likely to be in Brookside

Is this reasonable?

I don't know what cemetery records there are available

Further information.

I have traced Richard Whateley Edwards death and some of his family to UK.
He was on the (very partial)tree sent to someone in the family from Canada

Don't know if this means, they went out, and returned?
