Hi ,sorry i should have said a little more.Their names were David Kennedy born in Dundee Scotland,married Margaret Nicol 1st April 1834 Dundee.David Kennedy was a stonemason in Dundee.If i have the right David Kennedy [i think this is him]born 31st July 1810 Dundee,i am not 100% sure this is him.Margaret Nicols parents were Alexander Nicol and Jane Cant,i am looking for Jane Cants parents,i already have Alexanders parents.I have no idea when David Kennedy died but his wife Margaret Nicol died aged 79 at 85 Cowgate Dundee on 19th July 1886.If you can be of any help i would be very grateful.Thankyou Anne.

Um, a bit tricky! Could you pinpoint David kennedy's death by using trade directorys, census indexes and/or known children's births? On his wifes death certificate was she a widow then or are they both on the 1881 census? Is it possible for you to see Margaret's headstone or for someone nearby to look for you?

With the marriage date:

Their names were David Kennedy born in Dundee Scotland,married Margaret Nicol 1st April 1834 Dundee.

and place you could get the certificate which will give you all sorts of information.

Hi Karen,thankyou for your reply.It was a professional genealogist that sent me this info,i got him to do the research 2 years ago.He recorded the death of Margaret Nicol and when i looked at it it does say widow of David Kennedy,so he obviously died before her.Her death was recorded in St Andrew Dundee in 1886 aged 79.I will do as you suggest and try and find census records or cemetary lookups.I think they will probably be buried in Dundee.Thankyou again for the advice Karen,i will let you know if i find anything.Anne.

Edward KENNEDY/U/32/M/Dundee, Forfar, Scotland/Son/Cork Cutter

So David was alive in 1850 presumably when daughter Margaret was born.  You may get lucky if he died after 1854 then you should be able to find him on www.Scotlandspeople.org.uk this will give his parents if the relative who registered the death knew who they were.

If you find the 1851 entry for them (sorry I don't have access) then he may be on it and you will get his birth location and you can try and find the IGI for him.

Thankyou so much for your help and advice,i will try and see what i can find.This David Kennedy has caused no end of problems i have just about given up with him.I cant even find his burial details anywhere,i thought because they lived in Cowgate Dundee i might find them in one of the local cemetaries but that has also failed.Like i said i will see what i can find on Scotlands People.Thankyou again.Anne,
