Found a William Farrell in Ottawa (less than an hour from Perth) who died in 1889, 50 years old, born in Ireland.  He was a buglar in the 43rd Batt.

There is only one listed in Perth, and barely old enough to be the father...
but it may come in handy if you find more information one day

Also the 1881 if you haven't looked there for the family.. Specify Canadian census & Ontario
