Kansas City relatives - Smith, Clarke, Barnes, Wagstaff ?
« on: Saturday 18 February 06 19:38 GMT (UK) »
Kansas City connection

I believe Elizabeth A J Smith (b 11 Jun 1855 possibly Charles Street, Victoria Square or Baneswell/St Woolos) daughter of George Esan Smith (Saddler) & Elizabeth Barnes emigrated to the USA (Kansas City) where she appears to have married Arthur John Smith (or she may have emigrated with him).  She's buried in Hope Cemetery Ottawa Kansas.

Certainly her death card returned to the UK and came in to the possession of her cousins (the Wagstaffs).

Her sister Alice b 13 Mar 1862 Newport (who appears to have married a Charles Ed Clarke b 1857 Victoria, Australia) lives in Newport & Cardiff, before emigrating to Kansa City in the 1900s, where she dies 27 Jul 1924 and is also buried in Hope Cemetery Ottawa Kansas.

Now I've done the UK, US Census and emigration records (no firm date), and it appears to match, but does anybody have any links to these or further information ?

Thanks

Simon

PS If  anyone was watching this, a related query on the emigrants to USA board came up trumps.
