« on: Tuesday 28 September 04 20:36 BST (UK) »
hi,

been advised to post this, gardener if you find this man you are a miracle worker, been looking for ages,

his name is william porter he was born 1856 cheadle common staffs his mother was called mary porter no father, i cannot find mary anywhere presume married, i then get william married living at boothen stoke in 1881, resided at waterloo building, it is there in 1881 but not in 1871, i have trawled the 1871 every town between cheadle to stoke i now admit this man has defeated me.

all the best,

jackie.

So glad that you found him  ;D
Who ever found him did a great job!
Since you first posted the 1871 has become available, so I think you should repost in the Staffs census lookup bit and get someone to find him in 1871. Not that he will be with his mother of course :)

hi gardener

i hope i have found his mother as well but its a bit of a mystery, if it is the one she was in cheshire on the 1851 the only one that could match up with william born in cheadle 1856, but on the 1861 william aged 4 is visiting a family in cheadle no sign of mary at all, any ideas there is no mary with possible married name going by the age in the house and checked the surrounding streets to no avail.

kind regards
jackie.

Hi. The only other interesting thing was in the 1871

RG10-2870/14
Boothen
Vine Row
Hannah Porter,head,wid,66,annuitant,Staffs,Endan
Mary Moore,sister,unm,70,?,Staffs,Fosbrook
Elizabeth Roberts,widow,unm,36,potter warehousewoman,Lancs,Liverpool
Mary Roberts,granddau,8,scholar,Staffs,Stoke
Elizabeth Roberts,granddau,4,Staffs,Cheadle
William Porter,grandson,1,Staffs,Cheadle

Try as I would I could not connect them up, or find them elsewhere except the Roberts family in 1881. >:(
