Bridge Street Greenwich
« on: Sunday 19 February 06 20:07 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone tell me where Bridge Street was in Greenwich? Was it demolished or has it been renamed?

My gt-gt-gt grandfather William Wall ran a Beer Shop or "Maltster" at 7 Bridge Street. He's there in the 1861 & 1871 censuses, then moved to the North East after his business failed.

Many thanks

 Try this http://www.motco.com/Map/81006/

If you look at the streetmap.co.uk site for Creek Road,  Bridge Street is at the eastern end where it says Cutty in Cutty Sark

How strange - I'm going to Greenwich today to find 'Bridge Street' where my gt-gt Grandfather - William Wall was a Beer Retailer! My mother was Ianthe Dodd (Johnson)

I realise that this is long after the original post, but in case it helps anyone else,  I was looking for 13 Bridge Street and came across this planning document.  It shows a series of maps from 1695 right through to 1994 (at the end of the document).  It may be interesting for background info and for finding the modern location.

The link is http://tvas.co.uk/reports/pdf/CRG05-01dsk.pdf

In case the link changes or is deleted in the future, the details of the report are:

"Creek Road, Greenwich, London Borough of Greenwich
An Archaeological Desk-Based Assessment "

It was dated March 2005, completed by a Steve Ford and it seems to have an identifier of "Report 05/01"
