BSO Boys' Home in Brixham
« on: Tuesday 21 February 06 20:05 GMT (UK) »
In the 1901 census, the Rev T L Brown is listed as being the Chaplain of the BSO Boys' Home in Brixham. Does anyone know anything about this home  or can point me in the right direction

Any and all information is most welcome

Annie,
I think you are a complete, total utter gem!! :D
I'd Googled BSO and Brixham, but didn't come across that!

As someone who has just discovered the only other theological student  in my tree (I just finished a degree in Theology myself a year ago) I am thrilled to find the Rev TL Brown, so any and all leads on him are MOST welcome!

I'll keep you posted

When I lived in Brixham in the early 70's the boys still used to parade in sailor suits through the town to church and back every Sunday morning. :)

Hello Ruthie, we are conducting research into the British Seamen's Orphan Boys' Home in Brixham, Devon. We are looking to account for all former boys from the home and have so far found just over 150 of them covering 6 decades. We may be able to help you and anyone else doing research into anyone from the home and also hope that if any of you were or know the whereabouts of any of these boys could you please contact us. Thank you.

My father and possibly his brother were in the Brixham boys home. I visited the home with him in the late 50s and he showed me the bed complete with the paint worn from the frame where he used to tie the nearby door to the bed to stop it rattling.
