1861 and 1871 Census Look-Up please - Jane Cockin
« on: Wednesday 22 February 06 12:05 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Thanks to another RootsChatter I've found my direct ancestor Jane COCKIN on the 1851 census living in Garthorpe, a widow aged 52, farmer of 30 acres.  She was born c.1799 in Fockerby.

From freebmd I believe she died in 1872 so she is hopefully on the 1861 and 1871 census, probably still in Garthorpe or just over the county border in Fockerby.

I'd be grateful for a look up on the 1861 and 1871 census for her.

Thank you,

Jo.

Thank you Pam.

Her grandaughter Jane on the 1861 census must be my 2xGt-Grandmother Frances Jane Robinson who would be exactly 15 years old - I'd have been searching for her as Frances and not Jane.

The grandson on the 1871 census is new to me.

Thank you very much - it's much appreciated.  :)

Jo.

Hello

There is a Jane Cockin, witness, in the July 1815 Selby Yorkshire, Parish Register Marriage entry of George Hood to Sarah Russel.

Just wondering if Jane Cockin was known to the 1815 Selby Marriage couple George Hood and Sarah Russel, or if Jane Cockin was connected to Selby?

Regards Mark

Eilleen.

This is a great find Eilleen for the Cockin family historian and in response to the original poster, regarding Fockerby. Thanks for the other replies too.

As mentioned already, a Jane Cockin appears as a witness on the George Hood and Sarah Russel, July 1815, Selby Marriage entry in the Parish Register, hence my interest.

You may have noticed, that a Jane Cockin, birth was registered in the Selby 'Registration District' - December quarter 1837, I don't have any other information yet.

A Rev John Cockin, was Minister of the Lane Independent Chapel Holmfirth, see first post, here ...
