From freebmd I believe she died in 1872

The Will of Jane Cockin widow late of Garthorpe died 2 Dec 1872 at Garthorpe proved at Lincoln 29 November by Son William Cockin Farmer of Garthorpe the sole Executor.

Not sure if you have the following details

Thank you Eilleen, Ladyhawk and Trish

But for Jane Cockin (Witness) to have signed as "Jane Cockin" on the George HOOD = Sarah RUSSEL July 1815 Marriage at Selby, she would already have to be called Jane Cockin ...

The marriage below would be too late. Jane in the marriage below does not become Jane Cockin until 1820.

Marriage
24 May 1820 Ardsley Yorkshire
Jonathan Cockin to Jane Popplewell

Wondered if you have discovered anyone called Jane Cockin before / by July 1815, please?

Mark

Hi,

Thanks to another RootsChatter I've found my direct ancestor Jane COCKIN on the 1851 census living in Garthorpe, a widow aged 52, farmer of 30 acres.  She was born c.1799 in Fockerby.

From freebmd I believe she died in 1872 so she is hopefully on the 1861 and 1871 census, probably still in Garthorpe or just over the county border in Fockerby.

I'd be grateful for a look up on the 1861 and 1871 census for her.

Thank you,

Jo.
