female ancestors
« on: Wednesday 29 September 04 21:11 BST (UK) »
I have found a gg grandma. Mary Craven who married Richard Foster in 1881.

The problem is it's her second marriage and Craven is not her maiden name.
I know she was born at Thixendale in E.R.Yorks in 1851 from 1881/91 census.
Has anyone any suggestions how i find her birth?

Any help would be brilliant
Thanks

Hi,

One way would be to get her marriage certificate.  That should list her as being a widow and will list her father's name and hence her original birth name.  From there you can look for her birth certificate or find her on earlier census with her family.
