Studholme marriage please
« on: Thursday 23 February 06 18:43 GMT (UK) »
I would appreciate any information on the following marriage.

Joseph STUDHOLME to Mary ? around 1826 or before, Bongate area.

I have this couple in Northumberland from the 1841 Census.

Joseph was born about 1800 in Alston, Cumberland.

Mary was born about 1805 in Bongate, Westmoreland.

Their first known child was a son, Robert, born about 1826 in Bongate, Westmoreland.

The marriage isn't on the IGI - can anyone help please?

Many thanks

Helen K

Hi Helen,

Events might have moved on since you posted this, but I had a look in the transcription of the Bongate register on a recent visit to the records office, but the only Robert I could find was baptised 13 Nov 1827, son of Robert & Dorothy.

So it seems he was either baptised elsewhere or maybe at a later date. Could they have been non-conformists? or could Robert & Dorothy have died and he went to live with John & Mary. Have you found the baptisms for any other children?

Sorry, more questions than answers.

Chris
