buying vouchers for 1901 census online
« on: Thursday 30 September 04 10:53 BST (UK) »
hi,
Did i mention i was VERY new at this?? ...lol!
I came across a link through which it was possible to buy the vouchers to enable me to use the 1901 online, rather than the 48 hour session, £5 minimum.
does anyone have a link....I would prefer to use it this way (being able to log out and return a week later rather than having to cram it all into the 48 hour session!)
many thanks in advance!
sue :)

I've seen them for sale by local family history societies, and in my local reference library.
Can you get to a library from where you are?

Sue

As most of the 1901 census is now ., have you asked for lookups through Rootschat as many of its members including myself do have access to this census.

You might get what you are looking for without having to shell out for vouchers

Just a thought

When I was new to this game, I was VERY wary of buying anything from the internet, so I looked on the PRO 1901 website and found the nearest place that sold the vouchers.  That was before I joined Rootschat and "met" so many interesting and helpful people.  The one good thing that I would say about buying the voucher yourself and looking at 1901 is that you get to understand exactly how the website works, including transcription errors and how easy/difficult it is to find your people.  Good hunting!!

thank you for all the replies!
I bought a voucher from the local history dept at the central library - although a £5 voucher is soon used up!!
