Pam's David Hughes
« on: Monday 27 February 06 18:58 GMT (UK) »
Hi Pam

Hope you enjoyed the Chinese :)
This is what I've found from the St Martins transcripts - on fiche from Shropshire FHS but now I think on Ancestry as well.

Baptisms
31st January 1796 Robert, s of David Hughes and Mary

11 Nov 1798 David s of David and Mary Hughes, Bronygarth

14 May 1802 William s. of David Hughes and Mary, Penymarc, b. 14

Marriages
20(?) January 1795 David Hughes, b. and Mary Edwards, sp.

Burials

10 May 1802 William Hughes, ch of David and Mary Hughes, Penymarc, Bronygarth
23 May 1802 Mary Hughes, Penymarc, Bronygarth

So I think that the IGI must have beeen wrong - a mis-reading of Mary  for Marg . I'd trust Shropshire FHS anyday.

Anyway, I'll let you digest those  ;)
I'm going to have my Spanish Rabbit stew :o

Oh my goodness Gadget!!!! You were right these are GEMS  :-* :-* :-*

Thank you so so much  ;D

It is teh most exciting think to me to get a new surname of a direct ancestor and you have given me EDWARDS  ;D

How can I thank you to the level I am grateful!  Amazing.

How very very sad then Robert's mum died when he was 6  :'(

Is that the right way round for the burial of William? He was buried 4 days before he was baptised?

Thank you so much,
Pam

Hi Pam
I've been taking a break, watching tele ;) The snow is now snowing and sticking.
I'll check on William, I might have got the dates the wrong way around - they're from scanned images of the fiche - don't have a reader but quite nifty on the scanner ;D
I've been looking for the baptism of a David - can't find one in St martin's so checked Chirk and Llangollen - not much luck but have found a David Hughes and Sarah of Crogen Iddon/Hafodgynfor having children at about the right time and, as you know that's right next door to Bronygarth :-\
looking for Mary Edwards now -bit more 'common' - father should be a Robert or William shouldn't it?
Penymarc is probably Penymaes - think I misread it - makes more sense - top of the field. In fact your lot probably were neighbours to my John Jones and Mary and daughter Catherine who married Edward Stokes - all Bronygarth :)
Will get back if I find anything more.

Hi Pam
Checked it again - he was buried 18th May. I wonder if David remarried with such a young family?
I'll have a look at the NBI to see if Mary's death is recorded there, it might give her age.
Don't know about you but, each time I find an ancestor and then find their death soon afterwards, i feel quite sad. I know they died but :'( :'(
